This woven bag has a herringbone, plaid pattern in natural and reddish woven pandanus leaf fibre. It has a large, fan-shaped tassle, attached to a thin plaited loop or hanging strap. The reddish dye is not used in New Caledonia, where the basket was acquired, therefore this object may have originated in the Solomon Islands or Vanuatu.
