Biography of Francis McDaid

Trooper Fancis McDaid was born in Glasgow and attended St Mungo's Academy. He matriculated at the University in 1939 to study for an Arts degree but left at the end of his first year to join the Army.

McDaid enlisted in the Royal Armoured Corps but was transferred to 30 Commando. He died on 5 October 1943 during a German bomber raid on the Greek island of Leros.
