Biography of Gordon Kirby

Gordon William Kirby (1934- ) was Regius Professor of Chemistry from 1972 to 1997.

Born in Cheshire, Kirby studied at Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge (graduating MA, PhD and ScD), and worked at Imperial College, London as a senior student and lecturer. He was appointed Professor of Organic Chemistry at the University of Technology, Loughborough, in 1967.
