Biography of Mieczysław Bagiński
Mieczysław Bagiński graduated BSc in Naval Architecture from the University of Glasgow in 1942. He came from Warsaw, Poland and his father, Henry, was a Polish Army Officer and chemical engineer.
Bagiński was 20 when he matriculated at the University in 1939, where he took courses in Heat Engines, Applied Mechanics, Naval Architecture, Applied Physics, Hydromechanics, Aeronautics and Engineering Economics. He was awarded the Reid Birrell Prize in Naval Architecture and a Second-Class Certificate in Higher Applied Physics in his final year.
After graduating in 1942, Bagiński worked as a naval architect in Dundee, Scotland. By the mid-1960s he had returned to Sopot, Poland, to work.
