Biography of Kotaro Motoki
Motoki Kotaro was selected by the Ministry of Education to study at Glasgow University between 1880 and 1883, during which time he studied Mathematics, Engineering and Naval Architecture.
Kotaro returned to Japan in 1887, where he eventually succeeded his father's, Nagihisa, printing business in Tsukiji in central Tokyo. He would become a famous philanthropist, investing a significant amount of money in social welfare.
