Biography of John Malone
John Malone graduated BSc from the University in 1928. He was born in Coronel, Chile, son of Thomas, a colliery manager, mining engineer, and elected member of the Mining Institute of Scotland.
Malone enrolled at the University in 1925, giving his home town as Lota Alto, coal mining region. Malone attended classes in Mathematics, Physics, Applied Mechanical and Civil Engineering, Mineralogy, and Geology. He was named on several occasions in the prize lists during his studies, including a first class certificate in higher Engineering.
