Biography of William Robertson
William Robertson graduated MB CM from the University in 1887 and MD in 1891.
Robertson was born around 1865 in Beirut, at that time part of Syria, son of James Robertson, Professor of Oriental Languages at the University of Glasgow from 1877 to 1907.
Upon qualification, Robertson went on to obtain his Diploma of Public Health (DPH FPS) in 1893 at Glasgow, and was appointed Chief Medical Officer of Health at Leith. Robertson also lectured on public health at the Royal College of Physicians, Edinburgh and at the Edinburgh School of Medicine for Women, and published extensively on the subject.
