Biography of Eleanor Marjorie Torrance Park

Eleanor Marjorie Torrance graduated MBChB from the University in 1922. She was born in Tiberias, Israel, daughter of medical missionary Dr David Watt Torrance.

Torrance enrolled at the University in the summer of 1916 to study Medicine, as her brother, Herbert Watt, and sister, Lydia Ida Huber, had done before her. During her studies, Torrance was awarded second class certificates for the Practical Botany examination (1916-17), Practical Pharmacy (1917-18) and Practical Physiology (1918-19).

Shortly after graduation, Torrance married Thomas Walter Urquhart Park, a planter from South Africa, at St Andrew's Church in Colombo, Sri Lanka on 08 July 1924. Park worked for Harrisons and Crosfield Ltd in Travancore, modern day Kerala, India, where they lived together.
