Biography of Robert Hay

Robert Hay graduated BSc from the University of Glasgow in 1920. He was born at Sydney in 1891, son of Allan, a cabinetmaker and house furnisher.

Hay enrolled at the University of Glasgow in 1911, and over the course of four years took classes in subjects such as Mathematics, Natural Philosophy, Geology and Chemistry. From 1915, Hay is absent from the University, until he returns to graduate in Chemistry on the 23 June 1920. That year he also undertook further research while lecturing, obtaining his PhD in 1926 with the thesis Constitution of alloys.

Hay spent his career as a chemist based in Elgin, Scotland.
