Biography of Frederick Richard Jones
Frederick Richard Jones enrolled at the University in 1932 with a view to completing a BSc in Engineering, while also attending classes at the Royal Technical College.
Jones was born at Brookes in Bechuanaland, modern day Botswana, son of Frederick, a medical practitioner. His hometown was Oliphants Hoek, South Africa, when he enrolled at the University in 1932, aged 17, where he attended classes over two years in Engineering, Natural Philosophy, Mathematics, Chemistry and Engineering Drawing.
