Biography of Gabriel Alexander Gabrielides

Gabriel Alexander Gabrielides graduated BSc from the University in 1934.

Gabrielides was born in Mersinia, Asia Minor, modern day Turkey, on 27 February 1908. He lived in Nicosia, Cyprus and was the son of Alexandros Gabrielides, a confectioner and manager.

Gabrielides first matriculated at the University of Glasgow in 1928-9, aged 18, joining the Faculty of Science. During his first year of study he signed up for classes in Chemistry, Natural Philosophy and Mathematics.

He pursued a career as a mechanical engineer. He died on 17 April 1973.
