Biography of Alexander George Thomson
Alexander George Thomson, a Glasgow-based civil engineer and architect, designed the gateway and gatehouse at Gilmorehill, Pearce Lodge. Together with the building contractors, Morrison & Mason, Pearce Lodge was built in 1887, incorporating the old main gateway and other features from the High Street frontage of the Old College. In 1889, the boundary wall, gatepiers and railings were added.
